Happy Friday!
It is hard to believe September is almost over! Please remember to send a sweater in with your child as temperatures in classrooms vary from outside. We have been discussing ordering and comparing numbers this week, and your child has taken their rounding quiz online (SOL format) and on paper. As we discussed at Back to School Night, children seem to be doing better on paper than on the computer and we are going to be testing all quizzes and tests on both paper and computer to give them the opportunity to get used to online testing for the May SOL tests. Check my Helpful Links tab for additional practice sites in math and reading. We have talked about Author's Purpose in reading, and how to tell if an author is writing to persuade, inform, or entertain.
You should have received your child's IXL log in information this week. Please let me know If you did not. IXL in addition to Reflex is excellent math practice that can be done at home and in class. I highly recommended using both, as Reflex aids with fact knowledge and IXL is cumulative practice.
I also want to remind you that our first Field Trip is coming up the second week of October. Please ensure you sent your child's permission slip signed, as well as the $20 field trip fee. Field Trip money is due Friday, October 3rd.
Interims will be going home next week, please be sure to sign so I know that you saw the interim. Conferences are coming up, and there will be paperwork going home with your child about how to sign up for a conference within the next week.
Again, thank you for all you do to help your child succeed!
